We modeled a real piece of gear which is found in the studio of our friend Flavio aka TheBuildzer, we measured the response of the unit, the transfer function, the attack and release behavior and put everything into this new plugin which improves the OPTO model in Multicomp Plus MK2 and recreates the sound of this historical compressor.

The demo is fully functional except for the fact that every now and then it will silence out, you cannot save parameter values with your session and the plugin will not respond to automation coming from the host.
Packaged into a single plugin you can find: an equalizer (using the same technology found in our TotalEQ) a compressor (using the same technology of our SyncPressor) a clipper and a limiter (using the same technology of our Magnus MK2). These processors take the audio from each track and apply the same settings to every track, simulating the effect of a master bus processor.
The order of the effect can be rearranged dragging their position on the right part of the plugin interface and their meters and side chain are fed with the sum of the input of every instance of the plugin, mimicking the behavior of a master bus processor.
This is the core of the plugin but to make it more versatile and interesting we added: pre-emphasis and de-emphasis filters, a soft clipper and an hysteresis module that allows harmonics to behave like a tube a transformer or a magnetic tape.
The HoRNet VU Meter MK4 is a digital VU meter plugin with automatic gain setting and grouping functions, the new GUI is now scalable and has been optimised to take less space than the previous version and let you focus on the meter bars. In addition to the GUI VU Meter MK4 also allows you to give names to your tracks and groups, send every parameter change to any instance of VU Meter MK4 (not just the ones in the same group) and display the level of any of the other instances in the project without closing the GUI and choosing a new track.
In mixing VU Meter plugin is even more useful, used in conjunction with the peak meter of your DAW can help you identify critical tracks that have too much energy in the transients and not enough loudness, but the single most useful feature is the auto gain. Gain staging is a crucial part of every mix, especially if you use analog emulating plugins, hitting them too high means creating too much distortion that then adds up in the mix.
My favorite software vocoder, hands down, would be the Softube Vocoder. It offers a rich and full sound, without being too harsh. It is also incredibly malleable, giving many options to remodel the signal. This is especially important with vocoders because dialing in the precise settings will make the effect sit in the mix way better with far less work. UAD and Softube are both companies known for their extreme attention to having accurate sounding emulations, and this plugin is no exception. As with all UAD software, this plugin requires having UA hardware to run, but this little guy is well worth it.
Price: $149 Plugin Type: Digital Effect Quality / Design: Sporting a fun and simple interface, this plugin has a bunch of goodies bundled in that makes it way more than just a vocoder.
Price: $199 or $9.99 on Splice.com Plugin Type: Digital Effect Quality / Design: iZotope comes in strong with this organized and well thought out plugin, featuring tons of options and stellar sound quality.
I have always been a big iZotope fan, but Vocalsynth 1 fell short of my expectations. They redeemed themselves with the release of iZotope Vocalsynth 2, garnering support from pop producer Ian Kirkpatrick (Dua Lipa, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Britney Spears), and offering a completely redesigned and revamped plugin. If the price tag scares you, this monster can be picked up rent-to-own from Splice.com for a mere $9.99/month, making it way more approachable for the home-studio producer.
Price: Stock with Ableton Plugin Type: Digital Effect Quality / Design: All of Ableton's plugins showcase an unassuming interface, but this vocoder is anything but dull.
Price: Price varies based on current sale price Plugin Type: Vintage Emulation Quality / Design: By far the most outdated design on this list, but an inexpensive plugin that, while not sounding amazing, will get the job done.
Vocoders are powerful creative tools, and amateur producers often miss out on opportunities to get the most out of these plugins. Watch this video for modern applications for these timeless effects and start using them to their full creative potential.
Bam. Another excellent free VU meter plugin. Like the PreSonus, you can monitor other level modes as well, including RMS, peak, and perhaps the lesser known EBU R128. Aesthetically you can choose from five different themes and scale the GUI up to 400%.
I reformatted my 2012 mac mini recently since it was having problems with the latest os updates I guess, and the latest version of logic won't recognize most of my plugins, even though they used to work with logic x. I tried doing these 3 things multiple times and they did not work.
Method 2: Go to Macintosh HD/Users/Library/Cashes and move the com.apple.audiounits.cashe file to the trash and empty the trash bin. When you next restart Logic Pro it will do a fresh scan of any installed Audio Units and your plugin should now appear in the Audio Units list in Logic Pro.
Method 3: Go to Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components. If you can see your plugin in the list of Audio Units, select the file and move it to the Desktop. Restart the Mac and start Logic Pro, then shut down Logic Pro and move the Audio Units which were moved to the desktop back into the HD/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components folder. Restart Logic Pro and your plugin should now appear in the Audio Units list.
Phasic MultiShaper is a WaveShaping plugin. It allows the definition of 4 Wave Shaping envelopes, and allows these 4 envelopes to be mixed together using the central 2 Dimensional mixing panel.
The plugin provides 10 harmonics generators of which you can set the amplitude and phase, increasing or decreasing the impact of the harmonic on the input signal. The resulting sine wave equivalent shape is displayed on the right side of the GUI.
The new key detection engine builds on the chromagram and expands it with another artificial intelligence unit based around a statistical chord progression model that analysing the chord sequence is able to understand the key of the song, this has the great advantage that the key recognition is always realtime so you can change song without the need to reset the plugin, or if the song changes key in some part of it, the plugin will simply be able to detect the new chord sequence and follow the key change, all of this working just on your DAW, with no need for an internet connection.
Other improvements include lots of fixes for invalid memory accesses, function keys for the Franklin Ace (Apple II clone) computers, properDIP switch labels for Nintendo Vs.
