For these Boosts you'll have to select the respective character as your team leader BEFORE entering the level (in the Simulator or campaign). Play through the entire level without switching the characters out at all and you'll get the Boost. For a full list of these Boosts/Heroic Deeds, check out our Characters section.

IntroductionWelcome to MUA2! This is a great game for playing some co-op with friends, but it can be enjoyed just as well on your lonesome. The first thing you'll need to know is that at this time, the multiplayer aspect is EXTREMELY glitchy and the setup is just plain odd. If you are playing online with friends, you will not earn credit for anything if your save file is further in the game than theirs, nor will you earn anything if your save file is on the opposite side of the war than theirs. So, if you plan to play in co-op AT ALL, make sure you get on the same page as your friends and stay there. Save often as well, and make sure everyone in the game saves before the host leaves!Oh, and before you begin playing, download this game add-on which is required to connect to other players who have Juggernaut downloaded. Even if you may not play with anyone else, get it to be safe. You'll also need to download the Character & Sim Mission Pack Teaser for the same reasons.Step 1: Super-Heroic DifficultyI would suggest starting here over Heroic simply because the achievements "Undefeated Heroes" and "Immortal Heroics" require this to receive credit, not to mention the game is easy as pie anyway. It doesn't really matter which side you take in the war. Do your best not to die at all during this playthrough, though if you do it is not a big deal since you have the mission replay terminals at your disposal. Use the collectibles guides to grab everything as you play, work on the different types of fusions, combat mastery achievements and heroic deeds and also do the five things required for "Seek and Destroy." None of these are critical to focus on too hard since you can use the mission replays and combat simulators to quickly knock out anything you don't get while progressing through the story. However, you will want to unlock any costumes that require this specific side in the war before moving on to your next playthrough. So if you chose "Pro" you'll want to do Iron Man, Mr. Fantastic, Songbird, etc. Check that achievement for more info.Step 2: Legendary DifficultyOnce you finish Super-Heroic, you will unlock this difficulty. All your stats will carry over with you, so start a new game by using the "next mission" console in the Wakanda HQ and be sure to choose the opposite side in the war as you did last time at the end of Act 1. Again, use the collectibles guides to grab anything you may have missed before, plus you will have all-new levels during Act 2 to focus on. Now once you finish playing the game again, you should have all story progression achievements and all collectibles from the missions.Step 3: Mop UpYou can use the mission replay terminal to now mop up anything you've missed. Grab a friend and go through all the Trivia questions to get total bonuses, go through all the combat simulations to get Gold ratings, repeat HQ levels to get 24 co-op maps, finish off any Undefeated levels and/or bosses you've missed and knock out any heroic deeds you still need for your final team boosts.Step 4: Character & Sim Mission PackUnfortunately with the DLC no longer available except for the "teaser" (which allows you to play online with those who do have it), you won't be able to get the full 1250 if don't already have the DLC. For those that do have the DLC, there are achievements that can be done in one run ("Low Deductible" and "Hotfoot") and some lower difficulty achievements (such as "Old Foes") that keep this DLC pretty short. Roughly 2-3 hours should be plenty to finish off the full 250.ConclusionUltimately (no pun intended) Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 is a worthy sequel to the original and can provide hours of entertainment and multiple playthroughs.
The power system also has been improved, allowing two characters to combine powers, yielding a new attack, known as a "fusion".[3] Each playable character in the game has a unique fusion with every other playable character in the game. An example is Captain America using his shield to reflect Storm's lightning bolts. Players have the ability to level up characters and earn new abilities and powers. The Vicarious Visions version on PS3, 360, PS4, Xbox One and PC consoles features an updated character progression system, with each character having four core powers that evolve as the character levels up. The n-Space version on Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable consoles of the game resembles the character progression system found in the original Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and original X-Men Legends, except the power set numbers are different, whereas the Nintendo DS version's power set number is limited to 4 powers limited like in the original X-Men Legends.
The game includes some format-specific characters,[11] with additional characters released as downloadable content.[12] In addition, each character on the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions has one alternate costume that can be unlocked during the course of the game.[13] Stan Lee, co-creator of Marvel Comics and creator of many of the characters, also lends his likeness and voice to New York senator Lieber; this marks the first time Stan has made a physical cameo in a video game.[14] On April 1, 2009, Aunt May was announced to be a playable character on the official website as part of an April Fool's joke.[15]
The Nintendo DS, PlayStation 2 and Nintendo Wii versions were developed by n-Space, with Savage Entertainment porting the PS2 version to the PSP. Version 3.5 of the Alchemy engine was used, and a team of around thirty developers worked approximately thirteen months to develop the game.[32] Online multiplayer for the Wii is not supported due to time constraints during development.[32] Several changes were made to the next-gen versions of MUA2 late during n-Space's development, accounting for the fact that Stan Lee does not cameo in these versions, that there are no alternate costumes, nor on-the-fly character swapping.[32] n-Space created a series of articles to address fan concerns, the "perceived shortcoming[s]" of the game, and to answer questions.[33] The Wii version of the game used WiiConnect24 to implement a feature known as B.R.A.G. (Broadcast Realtime Accomplishment Gloating), which allows players to share level results and high scores, and also features extensive use of the Wii remote for puzzles and manning turrets.[34] Users could also follow n-Space president and founder Dan O'Leary via Twitter to receive updates on the game.[35]
Players choose a team of up to 4 characters from a growing pool. Players start with 15 characters from the X-Men and Brotherhood to choose from, and can unlock more via the game's progression, leading to a maximum total of 40 characters, including fan favorites Cable and Deadpool, and the game's antagonists Legion, Selene, and Mr. Sinister, any or all of whom are unlocked in New Game + mode, depending on the player's in-game choices.
There are also several non-combat mechanics, mostly dialogue-related, carried over from Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2. At various conversations in the game's story, the player's team is given dialogue options which influence the story and how characters react to and around them. These responses are not clearly delineated, as they were in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2; rather, the tone the player chooses to take is determined both by which character they are controlling (for example, Storm or Jean Grey will give a different set of dialogue responses than Wolverine or Magneto) and what option the players themselves choose within that character's list of dialogue options. Dialogue choices can be used to gain access to (or block off) unlockable characters, bonus battles, and even entirely new areas of the game.
Finally, unique equippablle items and unlockable costumes for each character have been conflated. Now, players collect unique costumes for characters by way of "Costume Specs," which, when those equipped, provide new costumes for their character, each with a different set of stat and skill boosts. Each character has five Costume Specs, which are automatically unlocked at levels 10, 20, 50, 75, and 99. There is a cheat code built into the game that unlocks all the Costume Specs skins, but to gain the stat and skill boosts, the player must still unlocke the Specs themselves through leveling.
