Someone wrote to me a while back asking for advice on a better capture device than the one they currently tried. When they told me the name of the device, I thought it sounded familiar. I already had one ordered that was going to be used for both Mac and PC review. So here is that DIGITNOW! BR117 for PC review.
Usb 2.0 Video Capture Device Driver Windows 7 Download
Step One: Connect the video output on your VCR to the matching video input on your Roxio Video Capture device using an RCA or S-Video Cable. If your VCR has a yellow RCA video output, use an RCA cable to connect it to the matching yellow RCA video input on the capture device. If your VCR has an S-Video output, use an S-Video cable to connect it to the matching S-Video input on the Roxio Video Capture device. When possible, we recommend using S-Video for higher quality.
Connect the Roxio Video Capture USB device to a USB 2.0 port on your computer. An optional USB extension cord is included. Connect the Roxio adapter to the capture device. Connect the audio player to the large two-prong plug using the cables supplied with your player. (The cables needed to connect your audio system to the Roxio adaptor are not included with Easy VHS to DVD.)
VHS tapes are generally recorded at a lower quality than we have come to expect in the age of digital video, and degrades over time. Roxio Easy VHS to DVD will faithfully transfer your video to DVD. Roxio Easy VHS to DVD also includes some tools to sharpen, denoise and improve the quality of captured video, but cannot improve videos beyond the quality of the video as it was originally captured on the tape. The resulting video quality of the DVD will depend entirely on the quality of the source material. Low quality VHS video cannot be converted to high quality video by transferring it to a DVD disc.
This typically occurs when your VCR is not properly hooked up to the Roxio Video Capture device. If you are using RCA cables to connect your VCR to the Roxio Video Capture device, make sure the cables are connected to the correct jacks on both your VCR and your Roxio Video Capture device with the matching colors. The yellow RCA composite cable for video should be connected to the yellow RCA video output jack on your VCR and the yellow RCA video input jack on your Roxio Video Capture device. Similarly, the red and white audio RCA composite audio cables should be connected to the red and white audio output jacks on your VCR and the red and white audio input jack on your Roxio Video Capture device.

When this hotfix is applied and the Soft-Retry functionality is enabled with the appropriate registry value (depending on the Windows version, as described above), a USB transfer that fails for specific reasons is silently retried instead of completed and given a "failure" status. When this process occurs, USB client device drivers may not receive notification that communication with the device failed because of a lower-level error on the USB bus. If the affected USB device driver requires accurate error reporting to function correctly, you should not apply this hotfix. Or, you should disable the Soft-Retry functionality by setting the appropriate registry value to 0 or by deleting the Soft-Retry registry value entirely (depending on the Windows version, as described above). A Soft-Retry process will occur when the following conditions are true:

When you try to capture DV or HDV video in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 or later, the Record button in the Capture panel is dimmed. You cannot start capture. The Capture panel also displays one of these errors:
If you are capturing from a camcorder or VTR, then verify that the device is turned on and in playback mode (called VCR or VTR mode). Verify that the videotape has not been advanced to its end. If you are capturing from an analog-to-digital converter, then verify that both the converter and its analog input source are turned on. Also make sure that they're connected correctly, and are in the correct input/output mode. See the converter's documentation for instructions.
Connect the device directly to an IEEE 1394 (FireWire) port on your computer. Do not connect the device to a multi-port hub or to another IEEE 1394 device. If the device can output video over either USB or IEEE 1394, then configure it to output over IEEE 1394. See the device's documentation for instructions.
Note: Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 and later do not natively support capture of video over USB or USB 2.0 connections. To capture video from USB-only devices, use Adobe Premiere Elements or a third-party application, or install a third-party capture card.
Note: If you are capturing from a DV-only camcorder, then skip this step and go to step 4. Some video devices can output more than one digital video format. Determine whether your device has a button, a switch, or a menu setting that changes its output format. See the device's documentation for instructions. 2ff7e9595c
